REGISTERING YOUR PROPERTY
When your holiday home purchase is complete, it is very important that you register your property with HM Land Registry*. If you are using a solicitor to act on your behalf this will be completed for you in the process of the sale. However, if you decide not to use a solicitor this is something that you will have to arrange within 28 days of completing the purchase.
The work involved in applying to purchase and register land or property is quite technical and most people employ a solicitor or licensed conveyancer to complete the process.
You can visit landregistry.gov.uk for further information.
STAMP DUTY ON LEASEHOLD HOLIDAY HOMES
Due to ongoing changes in law regarding stamp duty, we recommend that you use a solicitor to help you calculate your stamp duty. As individual circumstances vary from person to person on the amount due there is no simple calculation, however a solicitor will be able to assist you.
